New for the younger set, the VeggieTales animated series has released a new DVD, Robin Good & His Not-So-Merry Men: A Lesson in Handling Hurt (Big Idea). This time the Veggies present their own twist on the Robin Hood legend, in which Robin Good (played by Larry the Cucumber) fundraises from the rich to give to the poor and displays his marksmanship with a bow and toilet plunger.
With a light touch, the story deals with serious themes like ¬ nancial distress and emotional pain, reaching biblical conclusions simple enough for young children to understand. Also included is a short feature titled “Lenny and the Lost Birthday,” which offers an explanation of Leap Year and a lesson in handling disappointment. The DVD is in widescreen format and lasts about 45 minutes.
